The P Extensions (2010)

for saxophone, trumpet, orchestra and live electronics

Written for my MA at the Haute École de Musique de Genève

Instrumentation: saxophone, trumpet, orchestra (2.2.2.2 – 4.2.2.1 – hp – cel – 3 perc. – strings), live electronics

Duration: 14 min.

First performed by Kevin Juillerat, Julien Wurtz and the orchestra of the HEM conducted by Benoît Willmann.

This piece is an extension of The P Project, a piece for solo saxophone and live electronics. It was part of my research on Computer Aided Orchestration and uses extensively the software Orchidée (now deprecated) developed at IRCAM by Grégoire Carpentier. Apart from my MA thesis, a research paper was published that included the experience of this piece, which can be found here. The title is a reconnaissance to Yan Maresz’s Metal Extensions, which served as a referent.
